Malhar Patekar, son of veteran actor Nana Patekar, has opened up about coping with his father’s death and responding to speculation about their family’s personal life. In a recent interview, Malhar spoke about the emotional support he received from his parents and relatives, while emphasising that appearances on social media do not always reflect the reality of family relationships.
Nana Patekar reportedly passed away in Goa on October 8, 2026, after suffering a heart attack. His last rites were conducted at his farmhouse in Pune. Malhar has now shared memories of his father’s final hours and explained how his family’s strength has helped him navigate the difficult period.
Malhar Patekar Responds to Online Speculation
Addressing discussions about his family, Malhar said that he had learned resilience and strength from his parents while growing up. He explained that his family shared a close emotional bond, including with his uncle and cousins, regardless of how their relationships might appear to outsiders.
He also pushed back against assumptions based on the family’s limited presence on social media. According to Malhar, the absence of frequent family photographs online does not mean that relatives are emotionally distant.
He further explained that although his parents had gone their separate ways, they maintained a positive relationship built over nearly four decades.
‘He Was Never Alone,’ Says Malhar
Malhar also addressed speculation about his father’s health and whether he had been alone during his final days. He said family members had remained by Nana Patekar’s side, ensuring that someone was always present.
According to Malhar, the actor had remained physically active and regularly exercised at the gym for around two and a half hours. He described his father’s fitness and energy as remarkable, adding that his family had not expected to lose him in this way.
His comments highlighted the family’s close involvement in the actor’s life despite assumptions circulating online.
Malhar Recalls Nana Patekar’s Final Hours
Remembering the day his father died, Malhar explained that Nana Patekar had been in Goa while other family members were managing their professional commitments. His cousin Prasad had travelled to Mumbai for work connected to the actor’s entertainment engagements, while another family member, Amay, had left only after ensuring that Nana was settled comfortably at home.
Malhar recalled that his father was someone who rarely wanted to trouble others. When Nana began feeling uneasy, he reportedly sent a text message before calling later. Prasad reached him, but it was too late.
Malhar said he received a call from his mother at around 5 am while he was in Pune. He described the moment as overwhelming, saying that he could barely remember what happened immediately afterwards.
Family and Industry Pay Tribute to Nana Patekar
Following Nana Patekar’s reported death, a prayer meeting was organised by the Maharashtra government, with members of the entertainment industry and political circles attending to pay their respects.
Through his reflections, Malhar has sought to clarify misconceptions about his family while remembering his father’s personality, discipline and relationships. His account offers a personal perspective on the loss and the importance of family support during a difficult time.
