Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has built an impressive real estate portfolio over his decades-long career. While his famous Mumbai residence, Jalsa, remains one of the most recognised celebrity homes in India, the superstar is also associated with several other valuable properties.
From family residences such as Prateeksha to commercial properties including Janak and Vatsa, Bachchan’s real estate holdings reflect a combination of personal, professional and investment interests. His property portfolio also extends beyond Mumbai, with reported investments in Alibaug and Ayodhya.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Jalsa and Prateeksha: Iconic Family Residences
Jalsa is among Amitabh Bachchan’s best-known properties and is reportedly valued at approximately ₹120 crore. The bungalow has become a familiar landmark for fans, particularly because of the actor’s tradition of greeting admirers gathered outside his residence.
Another important property connected to the Bachchan family is Prateeksha. The bungalow was reportedly purchased in 1976, following the success of Sholay, and served as one of the family’s earliest residences.
Amitabh lived at Prateeksha with his parents, and the property holds considerable sentimental significance. It was also one of the venues associated with the 2007 wedding celebrations of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.
In 2024, Amitabh reportedly transferred the property to his daughter, Shweta Bachchan. The bungalow is estimated to be worth approximately ₹50 crore.
Janak and Vatsa: Properties Used for Business and Commercial Purposes
Apart from his residential properties, Amitabh Bachchan has invested in buildings that serve professional and commercial functions.
Janak, whose name means father, was reportedly acquired in 2004 for around ₹50 crore. Spread across approximately 10,000 square feet, the property functions as an office space associated with Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL).
The building is used for business discussions, professional meetings, shoots and fitness activities. It plays an important role in managing the actor’s work beyond the film industry.
Another significant property is Vatsa, which has reportedly been leased to Citibank for more than 15 years. The building has been used as a premium private banking guest house and a corporate accommodation facility for non-resident Indian clients.
Reports suggest that the commercial arrangement generates rental income worth crores, although the exact amount has not been specified.
Ammu: The Property Supporting Jalsa’s Daily Operations
Amitabh Bachchan also owns a Mumbai property known as Ammu, which has served several practical purposes over the years.
A portion of the property was previously leased to the State Bank of India. It is now reportedly used as an additional facility connected to Jalsa.
Unlike the family’s primary residential spaces, Ammu accommodates several operational requirements, including staff and driver quarters, security facilities and storage areas.
The property is also reportedly used to store costumes associated with films and Kaun Banega Crorepati, along with housing a backup power generator.
These facilities make Ammu an important supporting property within the Bachchan family’s residential arrangements.
Alibaug Beach Estate and Ayodhya Land Investment
Amitabh Bachchan’s real estate interests are not limited to Mumbai. The actor has also reportedly invested in property in Alibaug, a popular coastal destination.
His Alibaug holding is said to cover approximately 19,557 square feet, with the acquisition taking place in multiple phases.
The initial purchase of around 10,000 square feet reportedly took place in 2024, followed by three additional phases that expanded the overall landholding.
The estate has been described as a coastal property intended for family holidays, relaxation and wellness activities.
Bachchan has also been linked to a land investment in Ayodhya. However, the available details do not specify the property’s exact size, purchase price or intended use.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Real Estate Portfolio Reflects His Long Career
From the family memories associated with Prateeksha to the professional activities conducted at Janak, Amitabh Bachchan’s properties serve different purposes.
Jalsa remains his most recognised residence, while Vatsa represents his commercial property interests and Ammu provides additional operational space. His investments in Alibaug and Ayodhya further highlight the geographical diversity of his reported real estate holdings.
Although the reported valuations offer an indication of the portfolio’s scale, property prices and rental arrangements may change over time. Together, these properties illustrate another aspect of the veteran actor’s financial and professional journey.
