The upcoming epic Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has generated considerable excitement because of its reported ₹4,000 crore budget, ambitious visual effects and star-studded cast. Now, actor and co-producer Yash has explained why the filmmakers are openly discussing the film’s enormous investment while presenting the project to an international audience.
Yash, who portrays Ravana in the film, addressed the issue during the international trailer launch. He is co-producing the project through Monster Mind Creations, alongside Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios.
According to Yash, discussing the scale of the investment confidently is important when introducing an Indian production to the global market. He believes international audiences need to understand the scale of the project rather than underestimate it because of modest promotional statements.
Why the Makers Are Emphasising the Film’s Budget
Yash acknowledged that Namit Malhotra’s earlier comments about the film’s budget had attracted widespread attention on social media. He explained that audiences in India can sometimes react negatively when filmmakers speak confidently about their achievements, whereas international markets may interpret understated promotion as a sign that a project is relatively small.
According to Yash, openly stating the investment helps communicate the ambition behind Ramayana. The filmmakers want international audiences to recognise the capabilities of Indian cinema and understand the scale of the production.
He emphasised that the project is intended to demonstrate the strength of the Indian film industry on a global platform, with the budget reflecting the scale of the undertaking.
Does the ₹4,000 Crore Budget Cover Both Films?
Yash also clarified that the reported ₹4,000 crore figure is not limited to the first instalment. It covers both parts of Ramayana, along with promotional activities and other associated expenses.
This distinction is important because the widely discussed figure represents the broader two-part project rather than the production cost of a single film.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is one of the most ambitious Indian cinematic projects in development. With Yash playing Ravana and Namit Malhotra overseeing the production alongside Yash, the makers are positioning the epic for audiences beyond India.
The first instalment is scheduled to release on November 5, according to the supplied report. The scale of the production and its international ambitions are likely to keep the film in the spotlight as its release approaches.
