Indian Railways is introducing a special Vande Bharat Express between New Delhi and Patna Junction to accommodate the expected rise in passenger numbers during Diwali and Chhath Puja. The additional service is scheduled to operate three times a week from October 21 to November 26, 2026.
The service is intended to give passengers another option on one of the busy routes connecting Delhi with Bihar during the festive season.
Departure and Arrival Timings
The train is scheduled to leave New Delhi at 8:35 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, reaching Patna Junction at 9:30 PM the same day.
For the return journey, it will depart Patna at 10:00 AM on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, arriving in New Delhi at 11:30 PM.
Six Stations Along the Route
The special train will have 16 chair-car coaches and six scheduled stops:
- Aligarh
- Kanpur Central
- Prayagraj
- Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction
- Buxar
- Ara
These stops provide additional boarding and alighting options for passengers travelling between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Advice for Festive Travellers
Passengers should confirm availability, running status and the latest timetable through official railway services before planning their journey. Since demand can rise sharply around major festivals, checking ticket availability early can help travellers organise their plans.
