The upcoming The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady’s Treasure anime film has released a new trailer and key visual, offering fans a closer look at Maomao and Jinshi’s next mystery. The film is scheduled to open in Japanese cinemas on December 11, 2026, with an international theatrical release also planned.
A New Mystery Awaits Maomao and Jinshi
The film introduces a case involving a deceased imperial concubine whose remains appear unusually well preserved, even five years after her death. Jinshi is tasked with fulfilling her final wish, and Maomao joins him as they travel to a southern region to investigate.
Their journey leads them into a city filled with secrets, where the search for a hidden treasure creates further complications. Maomao’s knowledge of medicine and her sharp investigative instincts are expected to play an important role in uncovering the truth.
Kenshi Yonezu Creates the Theme Song
Singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu will perform the film’s theme song, titled “Haru ga Akari.” The track was revealed alongside the latest promotional material, adding another major musical name to the production.
Japanese Release Confirmed for December
The movie is the first theatrical feature in The Apothecary Diaries anime franchise and is based on a story concept from original light-novel author Natsu Hyuuga. The film is directed by Norihiro Naganuma at TOHO Animation STUDIO.
With a new central mystery, fresh footage and an original theme song, the film is shaping up to be a major release for fans of the series this winter.
