Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh is preparing to welcome visitors for two major events this autumn: the International Tourism Mart 2026 and an exposition of sacred Buddhist relics. The programmes are expected to bring attention to the region’s mountain scenery, Buddhist heritage and Monpa cultural traditions.
The International Tourism Mart is scheduled for October 28–31, while the exposition of the sacred relics of Shakyamuni Buddha is planned at Tawang Monastery from October 31 to November 7.
Tourism Mart to Highlight Tawang’s Attractions
Preparations for the tourism gathering include transport arrangements, visitor reception, sightseeing plans and proposed visits to local villages. Organisers are also considering familiarisation tours to lesser-explored destinations, giving delegates an opportunity to discover more of the district’s landscapes and cultural heritage.
Tawang is known for its historic monastery, Himalayan mountain views and the scenic route through Sela Pass. The event offers a chance to showcase these attractions to tourism professionals and visitors from India and abroad.
Sacred Relics Exposition at Tawang Monastery
The upcoming Buddhist exposition is expected to draw devotees and other visitors to Tawang Monastery. Officials have been reviewing arrangements for public convenience, medical assistance, cultural programmes and crowd management.
Darshan is planned in phases to help manage visitor movement. Security and entry arrangements are also being prepared for the event.
Plan Ahead for a Himalayan Visit
Travellers interested in attending either event should organise transport and accommodation in advance and check the latest local advisories before setting out. Tawang’s high-altitude location and mountain roads mean that journey planning is especially important.
For visitors seeking a combination of Himalayan scenery, Buddhist heritage and local culture, late October and early November offer a particularly eventful time to explore the region.
