A quirky new short anime called Hanarabeez has begun streaming on YouTube, turning everyday teeth into playful animated characters. Based on original characters created by manga artist Yukari Kaneko, the project brings a lighthearted and slightly surreal concept from Shueisha’s Ribon magazine to the screen.
The animation is produced by DLE and features tiny tooth characters whose ordinary moments become the centre of short, humorous stories.
Three Episodes Planned
The series consists of three short episodes, released through the official Ribon YouTube channel. The first episode released on October 26, while the second is scheduled for November 9 and the third for November 24. Both upcoming episodes are planned for release at noon Japan time.
Meet the Unusual Tooth Characters
Every character in Hanarabeez is a tooth, including a baby tooth, its premolar friend and a character known as “Cavity Senpai.” Their everyday interactions combine cute designs with unexpected comedy, giving the series a distinctive style.
The short format allows viewers to enjoy these small, amusing stories without committing to a full-length television series.
Animation Team and Voice Cast
Benpineko directs the project at DLE, with Hana Satō and Yūki Urushiyama among the voice cast. FROGMAN, known for creating Eagle Talon, also contributes voice performances.
Hanarabeez is part of Ribon’s Charatan Labo initiative, which develops original characters through manga and illustrations. Its YouTube adaptation expands the project into animation, introducing the unusual tooth-themed cast to a wider audience.
