Filmmaker and television host Karan Johar has opened up about how celebrity conversations on his popular talk show Koffee With Karan have changed over the years.
According to Karan, celebrities are now more careful about what they say during interviews because even small comments can create controversies and lead to unwanted public relations problems.
Celebrities Have Become More Cautious
Karan explained that conversations on the show have become noticeably milder compared with its earlier seasons. He believes guests are increasingly conscious of how their statements might be interpreted once episodes reach audiences.
Bigger Celebrity Teams Behind the Scenes
The filmmaker also recalled how celebrity entourages have grown significantly since the show’s debut in 2004.
He observed that today’s guests often arrive with publicists, managers, image consultants and larger hair and makeup teams.
Some Guests Request Episode Approval
Karan further revealed that certain celebrities now request post-edit clearances before their episodes are broadcast.
He said he understands their concerns, as public comments can sometimes create unnecessary controversies.
The Show’s Changing Format
Despite the changing interview culture, Koffee With Karan remains one of India’s best-known celebrity chat shows, having featured numerous popular actors and personalities over the years.
