Sikkim is preparing to host a seven-day adventure tourism festival from November 1 to 7, 2026, offering visitors an opportunity to discover the state’s landscapes, outdoor attractions and natural beauty. The event aims to promote Sikkim as a destination for adventure tourism while encouraging travellers to explore places beyond the usual sightseeing circuit.
Namchi to Be the Main Festival Venue
The festival’s main venue will be Linkhim Tar in Namchi, with activities planned across Sikkim’s six districts. The wider programme is designed to showcase the state’s diverse landscapes and encourage visitors to experience its mountain scenery and local tourism offerings.
More Than 20 Outdoor Activities
The festival is expected to feature more than 20 activities, including mountain biking, trekking, birdwatching, ziplining and hot-air balloon rides. River rafting and paragliding are also among the planned attractions, subject to local conditions, safety requirements and event arrangements.
These experiences are intended to appeal to visitors interested in nature, outdoor recreation and exploring Sikkim beyond its well-known viewpoints and monasteries.
A Boost for Local Tourism
The event is part of an effort to highlight Sikkim’s adventure tourism potential and attract visitors to different parts of the state. Increased visitor activity could also create opportunities for local guides, accommodation providers, restaurants and other tourism businesses.
Plan Your Visit in Advance
Travellers considering the festival should check the final event schedule, activity availability, weather conditions and local safety guidance before travelling. Some outdoor activities may require advance booking or have age, health or other participation requirements.
