The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is organising a Transport Mela in Delhi-NCR on October 28 under the PARIVARTAN Scheme. The event is aimed at helping owners of old trucks and buses understand the benefits available when scrapping older vehicles and switching to cleaner replacements.
The programme brings together vehicle manufacturers, dealers, registered vehicle scrapping facilities, banks, non-banking financial companies and fuel-related organisations. Their representatives are providing guidance on vehicle scrapping, financing options, replacement vehicle purchases and applicable incentives.
What Benefits Are Available Under PARIVARTAN?
The scheme promotes the replacement of older trucks and buses in Delhi-NCR with cleaner vehicles. The incentives listed by the government include:
- A minimum 8% discount from the original equipment manufacturer’s discount.
- Interest support of 5% on eligible vehicle loans.
- A 100% road-tax concession for 10 years, subject to applicable conditions.
- One-time benefits for electric vehicles.
- Monthly fuel vouchers and waiver of registration fees, where applicable.
The benefits depend on the scheme’s rules and the eligibility of the vehicle owner and replacement vehicle. Applicants should confirm the detailed terms with the relevant participating organisation before making a purchase.
How Many People Have Registered?
According to the government’s announcement, approximately 40,000 beneficiaries had registered on the PARIVARTAN portal by the time of the update.
The Transport Mela provides an opportunity for eligible owners to understand the available incentives and obtain guidance from participating organisations. Vehicle owners should check the official scheme portal and confirm the conditions that apply to their individual circumstances before proceeding.
