A new ingredient-focused beauty and personal care initiative launched in India is bringing greater attention to product ingredients and consumer safety. The initiative aims to help shoppers make more informed choices when selecting everyday skincare, haircare and personal care products.
More Than 100 Ingredients Excluded
The platform has introduced a selection framework that excludes more than 100 ingredients from its beauty and personal care range. These include substances identified in its screening policy as potential carcinogens, hormone disruptors, skin sensitisers, allergens, toxic metals and environmental pollutants.
Some of the excluded ingredients include DMDM Hydantoin, Resorcinol, PPD, MI/MIT and Butylparaben.
Focus on Skincare and Haircare Products
The ingredient-screening framework covers several everyday product categories, including:
- Shampoos
- Face and body cleansers
- Face moisturisers
- Sunscreens
The selection process is designed to make ingredient information an important part of product evaluation rather than focusing only on marketing claims.
Why Ingredient Awareness Matters
Consumers are increasingly paying attention to the ingredients listed on skincare and personal care packaging. Understanding product labels can help shoppers make choices that suit their individual needs and avoid ingredients they know they are sensitive to.
The initiative reflects growing interest in transparency and quality standards across India’s beauty and personal care market.
