Faster Road Connectivity for Pilgrims and Tourists
Travelling from Delhi to Haridwar could become significantly quicker with a new road project expected to open next month. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said the proposed route could reduce the journey to around 90 minutes once it becomes operational.
The project is expected to improve access to Haridwar, one of India’s major pilgrimage destinations, and make road travel more convenient for visitors from the national capital and surrounding regions.
Road Infrastructure Could Support Tourism
Improved highway connectivity can make religious trips and short holidays easier to plan. Haridwar attracts visitors for its temples, Ganga ghats and spiritual experiences, while the city also serves as a starting point for journeys to other destinations in Uttarakhand.
A shorter journey could make weekend visits more practical for travellers, although the actual travel time will depend on the route, traffic and operating conditions once the project opens.
Official Opening Details Still Matter
The minister indicated that the project is scheduled to open next month. Travellers should wait for confirmed operational details before planning journeys around the projected 90-minute travel time.
The development is part of a wider push to improve highway connectivity and make important religious and tourism destinations more accessible by road.
