The classic racing anime franchise Future GPX Cyber Formula is preparing for a new chapter, with a trailer highlighting two upcoming projects. The announcement celebrates the franchise’s 35th anniversary and brings together a compilation film and a newly produced short anime.
Two New Projects Announced for 2027
The upcoming theatrical double feature will include Future GPX Cyber Formula EARLYDAYS RENEWAL: MOVIE EDITION and Future GPX Cyber Formula ASURADA. Both projects are scheduled to open in Japanese theatres on February 19, 2027.
The compilation film revisits the original television series through a newly remastered and re-edited presentation. Meanwhile, ASURADA introduces a new animated story that continues the franchise following the events of Future GPX Cyber Formula SIN.
A New Chapter for the Racing Anime Franchise
The newly produced short anime is planned as part of the series’ anniversary celebrations. Mitsuo Fukuda is involved as director and writer, while Hirokazu Hisayuki handles character design and Shoji Kawamori works on the futuristic racing machine designs.
These creative contributions bring together familiar talent from the franchise’s history for its next animated project.
Japanese Theatrical Release Confirmed
Both projects will arrive in Japanese cinemas on February 19, 2027. The new trailer gives fans an early look at the anniversary releases, although further details about international screenings have not been confirmed.
The announcement marks a notable return for a franchise that has remained associated with futuristic racing, advanced vehicles and high-speed competition for more than three decades.
