The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise is giving one of its most iconic mecha a major upgrade for the upcoming film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero. Bandai Spirits has unveiled the HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam & Booster Unit, a new Gunpla model kit featuring additional weapons and a large booster attachment.
The model kit is scheduled for release in February 2027, following the film’s planned Japanese theatrical debut. It builds on the original Infinite Justice Gundam design while introducing new components inspired by the upcoming movie.
Infinite Justice Gundam Gets New Weapons and Booster Unit
Based on the standard High Grade model released in 2020, the new kit retains the original mobile suit’s proportions and articulation while adding newly molded parts.
One of its main additions is the Hayato no Tate, a new shield weapon featuring a mechanism similar to the one used by the Immortal Justice Gundam. The shield can deploy beam blades from its upper section and two side wings, giving the mobile suit additional close-combat options.
The kit also includes a large Booster Unit that attaches to the Gundam’s back. Its revealed silhouette suggests that the equipment may transform into a Mobile Armor mode, although the full transformation details have yet to be confirmed.
Athrun Zala’s Iconic Mobile Suit Returns
The ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice Gundam is closely associated with Athrun Zala, who piloted the machine in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
Developed using advanced technology and incorporating nuclear-power elements, the Infinite Justice is designed for highly effective close-range combat. Its existing arsenal includes beam boomerangs, a machine gun and a high-energy beam rifle, allowing it to remain dangerous at a distance as well.
The new booster and shield equipment add another layer to the mobile suit’s capabilities and give Gunpla collectors a fresh version of the recognizable design.
What Is Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero?
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero is an upcoming prequel to the 2024 film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, which takes place one year after the events of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
The story is set in Cosmic Era 74, following the collapse of Gilbert Durandal’s Destiny Plan, which sought to determine people’s futures through their genetic characteristics. Cagalli, the chief representative of the Orb Union, works to establish a new peaceful order through the global monitoring organization COMPS.
However, tensions rise when an unknown individual steals the Strike Freedom Gundam from COMPS’ temporary base on Onogoro Island. Shinn and his comrades must respond to the crisis and protect what they have worked to preserve.
Release Plans for the New Gunpla Kit
The HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam & Booster Unit is planned for a February 2027 release. The kit will bring the mobile suit’s updated design from SEED Freedom Zero into Bandai’s High Grade Gunpla lineup.
With its new shield weapon, oversized booster and potential transformation feature, the model offers fans another way to explore the evolving mecha designs of the Gundam SEED universe.
