Train journeys through Kerala are getting a scenic upgrade with the introduction of an Executive Vistadome AC coach on the Madurai–Guruvayur Express. The special coach begins operating on the Madurai-to-Guruvayur giving passengers panoramic views along one of South India’s picturesque rail routes.
The addition marks the first Vistadome service on a train operating through Kerala and is expected to appeal particularly to tourists interested in combining rail travel with sightseeing.
Panoramic Views of the Western Ghats
Vistadome coaches are designed specifically for sightseeing, featuring large glass windows and glass sections in the roof that provide passengers with wider views of the surrounding landscape.
One of the highlights of the journey is the scenic Sengottai–Punalur ghat section, including the Aryankavu area. Travellers can enjoy views of the Western Ghats, forest-covered hills and valleys while travelling along the route.
The experience turns the train journey itself into an attraction rather than simply a way of reaching a destination.
Service Runs Until January 2027
The Vistadome coach will be attached to train number 16327, travelling from Madurai to Guruvayur until January 15, 2027.
The service is currently being introduced for a limited period, covering the popular winter travel season.
Premium Scenic Rail Experience
The Executive Vistadome coach provides an upgraded experience compared with a conventional railway coach. Its panoramic design allows passengers to enjoy the changing scenery without having to leave their seats.
The new service also adds another attraction for travellers exploring Kerala and neighbouring Tamil Nadu, particularly those who enjoy scenic railway journeys.
With the route passing through mountainous terrain and green landscapes, the Vistadome coach could become an appealing option for tourists looking for a slower and more immersive way to experience South India.
