Veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee has criticised Bollywood for limiting talented performers through repetitive casting and stereotypes. The actor believes that many gifted artists have missed opportunities to demonstrate their full abilities because the industry often places them in predictable roles.
Manoj Bajpayee Opens Up About His Career
While discussing his upcoming thriller Gajab Raat, Manoj said that he feels filmmakers have explored only around 25% of his acting potential so far. Despite his long career, he remains eager to take on different characters and discover new aspects of his craft.
The actor also expressed concern that talented performers can go unrecognised when they are repeatedly offered similar roles or receive limited opportunities on film sets.
Divya Dutta Questions the ‘Supporting Actor’ Label
Actress Divya Dutta, who is associated with the film, also spoke against categorising performers as supporting or character actors. She believes such labels can encourage stereotypes and prevent artists from showcasing the full range of their abilities.
Both actors highlighted the importance of judging performers by their work rather than the size or category of their roles.
OTT Platforms Have Created New Opportunities
Manoj acknowledged that the growth of streaming platforms has brought changes to the entertainment industry. He suggested that audiences now pay closer attention to characters and storytelling, creating more room for detailed performances.
