Actress and producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas has officially announced Ventilator 2, the sequel to her acclaimed 2016 Marathi film. The announcement comes as her production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, completes 10 years in the film industry.
The upcoming project will bring Priyanka together with filmmaker Rajesh Mapuskar, who is returning as both writer and director.
Film Scheduled for 2027 Release
The sequel is expected to arrive in theatres in 2027. Priyanka, Dr. Madhu Chopra and Rajesh Mapuskar will produce the project under Purple Pebble Pictures and Magij Pictures.
However, the makers have not yet revealed the complete cast, storyline or shooting schedule.
Original Film Won Three National Awards
Released in 2016, Ventilator followed the Kamerkar family as relatives gathered at a hospital after an elderly family member was placed on a ventilator shortly before Ganesh Chaturthi.
The Marathi comedy-drama explored family relationships, generational differences and unresolved conflicts through a combination of humour and emotional storytelling.
The original film received three National Film Awards, including Best Director for Rajesh Mapuskar, Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
Priyanka Celebrates a Decade of Film Production
Priyanka also reflected on the journey of Purple Pebble Pictures and its focus on meaningful stories.
Over the years, the production company has supported projects such as Paani, Firebrand, The Sky Is Pink and The White Tiger.
With Ventilator 2, Priyanka is revisiting one of the projects that played an important role in establishing her identity as a film producer.
The sequel is now among the upcoming Marathi films to watch in 2027.
