A heartwarming manga featuring an adorable Shiba Inu spirit is officially making its way to television. Shibatsuki Bukken, the manga by Es Omori, has been confirmed for a TV anime adaptation, with its broadcast scheduled for Summer 2027.
The announcement was celebrated in Japan as Dog Day because the date can be read as “Wan Wan Wan,” resembling the sound of a dog barking. The series has already attracted a large readership, recording more than 57 million views on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform.
A Story About a Girl and a Shiba Inu Spirit
The story follows Hyo Momose, a high school student who moves to a new area after changing schools. While searching for a place to live, she ends up at Maison Sheba, an unusual apartment building inhabited by a Shiba Inu spirit named Muu.
Muu is a spirit bound to Room 101, and Hyo’s new life begins with this unexpected supernatural roommate. The series blends comedy, warmth and everyday moments, with the adorable dog spirit at the centre of its story.
Main Voice Cast and Production Team Revealed
The anime has also confirmed two major voice-cast members. Shinka Nakabayashi will voice Hyo Momose, while Mutsumi Tamura will play Muu.
The project will be directed by Osamu Yamasaki, with Rio handling character designs. Animation production will be managed by TMS Entertainment, the studio behind several well-known anime productions.
Popular Manga Heads to the Small Screen
The manga began serialization on Shonen Jump+ in 2024, following the attention received by an earlier one-shot version in 2023. It has also been recognised in the 2025 Next Manga Award and a nationwide bookstore staff recommendation selection.
With its 2027 anime adaptation now confirmed, readers will soon get to see Hyo and Muu brought to life through animation. The teaser video and newly released promotional illustration have offered an early glimpse of the project, while further details about the broadcast schedule are still awaited.
