The picturesque town of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh has become a major centre of tourism activity as India hosts the 14th International Tourism Mart for the Northeast region. The event brings together tourism businesses, travel operators, government representatives and international buyers to promote the region as an attractive destination for travellers.
Organised by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and other northeastern states, the three-day event aims to strengthen tourism partnerships and introduce more visitors to the region’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and adventure experiences.
More Than 200 Tourism Participants Expected
The tourism event is bringing together more than 200 participants, including domestic and international buyers and sellers. Around 43 international buyers representing 22 countries are expected to take part.
Representatives from all eight northeastern states — Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura — are showcasing their tourism attractions and travel experiences.
Business-to-business meetings are also being organised to help tourism service providers connect with international travel companies and explore new opportunities.
Tawang’s Famous Attractions Take Centre Stage
The event is also highlighting several popular attractions in and around Tawang. These include the famous Tawang Monastery, Jang Waterfall, Jaswant Garh War Memorial, Buddha Park and Pankang Teng Tso Lake.
Visitors and delegates are also getting opportunities to explore Urgelling Gompa, the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama, along with Shernup Village.
These destinations offer a combination of mountain scenery, spiritual heritage, historical significance and local cultural experiences.
Northeast India Seeks Greater International Recognition
The International Tourism Mart is designed to strengthen the visibility of Northeast India in domestic and international tourism markets.
By bringing together tourism stakeholders from different countries, the event aims to encourage partnerships, promote regional travel circuits and create new opportunities for local tourism businesses.
The return of the International Tourism Mart to Tawang after 13 years also brings renewed attention to Arunachal Pradesh’s growing tourism potential.
