Yash’s much-awaited action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is reportedly facing serious financial challenges after a disappointing theatrical performance. According to industry estimates cited by Bollywood Hungama, the film’s makers could be staring at losses of nearly Rs. 300 crore.
Despite Yash’s massive popularity and a strong fan following, the gangster-themed film has reportedly failed to live up to the expectations surrounding its release.
Toxic OTT Rights Yet to Find a Buyer
The film’s theatrical performance appears to have affected its post-release business as well. Reports suggest that the OTT rights of Toxic are still unsold, with digital platforms showing limited interest at the prices previously expected by the makers.
According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the film’s team had earlier received an offer of around Rs. 150 crore from a major streaming platform. However, the makers were reportedly looking for more than Rs. 200 crore.
Yash was said to be confident that Toxic would become a major theatrical success, which could have pushed its post-theatrical streaming value beyond Rs. 200 crore. However, the film’s reported box-office performance has had the opposite effect.
Digital platforms are now said to be offering considerably less, with the highest reported bid standing at around Rs. 30 crore for the streaming rights across all languages. According to the report, ZEE5 has made the strongest offer so far.
Makers May Prepare a Different OTT Version
The reported drop in OTT valuations has prompted the makers to explore alternative ways of recovering some of the film’s losses.
One option reportedly being discussed is creating a new edit specifically for the digital release. The team is said to be considering changes to the film in an attempt to make it more suitable for streaming platforms and potentially secure a better deal.
The film’s satellite rights are also expected to bring in limited revenue because of its adult-oriented treatment and content.
Toxic Faces Challenges at the Box Office
Toxic arrived in cinemas on August 26, 2026, but reportedly received mixed-to-negative reviews and struggled with word of mouth.
The movie reportedly made around Rs. 120 crore on its opening day in India, but collections dropped sharply afterward. Current estimates suggest that its final domestic theatrical collection could remain below the Rs. 250 crore mark.
The steep decline following its opening has reportedly increased concerns about the project’s overall financial outcome.
Toxic Day 12 Collection
According to Sacnilk, Toxic earned Rs. 2.35 crore in India net on Day 12 of its theatrical run. The collection was recorded across approximately 1,677 shows.
With the latest figures included, the film’s India net collection has reportedly reached Rs. 245.75 crore.
Its domestic gross collection stands at approximately Rs. 293.30 crore.
Toxic Worldwide Box Office Collection
Toxic has also generated revenue from international markets. The film has reportedly earned around Rs. 44 crore in overseas gross collections so far.
Adding the domestic and overseas figures, the movie’s reported worldwide gross collection has reached Rs. 337.30 crore.
Despite crossing the Rs. 300 crore mark globally, the figure is reportedly well below what was expected from a project of Toxic’s scale and Yash’s popularity.
