Samsung has reportedly started rolling out the stable One UI 9 update based on Android 17 to select users of its older flagship smartphones. The Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are among the devices said to be receiving the latest software.
The initial rollout appears to be limited to a small number of users in South Korea who previously enrolled in the One UI 9 beta programme. Samsung is expected to extend the update to additional users and markets in the coming weeks.
One UI 9 Update Reaches Samsung Galaxy S23 Series
According to posts shared on Samsung’s community forums, some Galaxy S23 users in South Korea have started receiving the stable One UI 9 software. The update is not yet widely available, as the initial release appears to be restricted to beta participants.
The reported firmware version numbers for the Galaxy S23 series include S918NKSU8GZIF, S918NOKR8GZIF and S918NKSU8GZIF.
Samsung is expected to expand the rollout to more Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra users, including those in India and other international markets. However, the company has not confirmed a wider release schedule in the supplied report.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 Also Get the Update
The stable One UI 9 update is also reportedly reaching the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in South Korea. Like the Galaxy S23 series rollout, the update appears to be limited to devices enrolled in the beta programme.
For the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the reported firmware versions are F946NKSU6HZIJ and F946NOKR6HZIJ. The update package is approximately 485.41MB in size.
With these devices reportedly joining the rollout, Samsung’s 2023 flagship models could be among the oldest flagship smartphones to receive One UI 9.
New Galaxy AI Features and Privacy Improvements
One UI 9, based on Android 17, brings new Galaxy AI capabilities alongside additional privacy and security features. The software includes tools such as Privacy Alerts, Security Brief, My FanCam and Scam Detection, as well as an expanded Galaxy AI toolkit.
Samsung first introduced One UI 9 with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 in July 2026. The Galaxy S26 series reportedly began receiving the stable update in September 2026.
The latest rollout could bring several of these software improvements to Samsung’s previous-generation flagship devices, although the exact feature availability may vary by model and market.
How to Check for the One UI 9 Update
Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 users can manually check whether the update is available on their devices.
To do so, open Settings, select Software update, and tap Download and install. If the update is not available, users may need to wait until Samsung expands the rollout to their region and device.
The update’s availability in India has not been confirmed in the supplied report, so users should check their phones for the latest software notification.
