Story of the Green Yuri Manga
Often referred to by fans as Green Yuri because of its distinctive green visual style, the series is a Japanese manga created by Sumiko Arai. It is also known by the shortened names KiniOto and TGSWIIWAGAA.
The story follows Aya Osawa, a fashionable and energetic high school student who loves rock music but struggles to find others who share her taste. Her interest changes when she meets a stylish employee at a CD shop, whose dark clothing and excellent musical taste immediately catch her attention.
Aya develops a crush on the mysterious employee without realising that the person is actually her female classmate, Mitsuki Koga. Mitsuki usually keeps a low profile at school, but she is aware of Aya’s feelings and feels uncertain about revealing her identity. As the two spend more time together, their relationship gradually develops.
Manga Publication and Awards
Arai initially shared the story as a short-form series on Twitter between July and September 2021. It returned as a weekly web manga in April 2022 and began serialization on Pixiv Comic in April 2023. Media Factory started publishing the manga in print that same month.
As of February 2026, four collected volumes had been released. The manga also won the Next Manga Award in the web manga category in 2023.
With its first trailer now available and a January 2027 premiere confirmed, the anime brings the popular music-themed romance story closer to its television debut.
