Filmmaker Hardik Gajjar has announced two upcoming projects after his work on Krishnavataram. The director is preparing to bring two different stories to the big screen — one inspired by Gujarat’s cultural history and the other based on a significant chapter of the Mahabharata.
The films, titled Tana Riri and Ajay Abhimanyu Ki Mahabharat, are planned for theatrical releases in 2027 and 2028.
Tana Riri to Explore Gujarat’s Musical Heritage
Tana Riri will be set in 16th-century Gujarat and tell the story of twin sisters Tana and Riri from Vadnagar. The sisters are remembered for their musical abilities and their connection with the region’s classical music traditions. For this historical project, Hardik Gajjar is reuniting with Krishnavataram actor Sanskruti Jayana.
Ajay Abhimanyu Ki Mahabharat to Focus on Abhimanyu
The filmmaker’s second announcement, Ajay Abhimanyu Ki Mahabharat, will focus on Abhimanyu, one of the important warriors in the Indian epic.
The film will revisit his journey and the events surrounding his role in the Kurukshetra war. Abhimanyu’s story of courage and sacrifice remains one of the memorable chapters of the Mahabharata.
The project is scheduled for a theatrical release in June 2028.
Both Films to Be Directed by Hardik Gajjar
Both projects will be directed by Hardik Gajjar and produced by Athashrikatha Motion Pictures LLP. While Tana Riri will explore Gujarat’s historical and musical heritage, the Abhimanyu film will bring an important mythological story to the big screen.
With these announcements, the filmmaker is expanding his upcoming slate with two projects rooted in India’s cultural and storytelling traditions.
