Travellers planning international journeys will soon have another direct flight option as IndiGo prepares to connect Mumbai with Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. The new route is part of the airline’s international expansion and is expected to improve air connectivity between India and East Africa.
The service is scheduled to begin on November 20, 2026, with daily flights between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam.
Daily Nonstop Flights Planned
The new connection will operate using Airbus A320neo aircraft. It will provide passengers with a nonstop option between the two cities, reducing the need for connecting flights through other international hubs.
Dar es Salaam will become another destination in IndiGo’s growing African network, which already includes cities such as Nairobi, Mauritius and destinations in the Seychelles.
A New Link Between India and East Africa
The route is expected to support travel for tourists, business passengers, students and families travelling between India and Tanzania. Dar es Salaam is an important gateway for visitors exploring Tanzania, including journeys towards its coastal attractions and wildlife destinations.
The new service will also strengthen Mumbai’s role as an international departure point for passengers travelling to African markets.
Part of IndiGo’s International Expansion
The Mumbai–Dar es Salaam connection is among several new international routes being introduced by airlines during November. More direct connections can give travellers additional choices and make international journeys easier to plan.
For Indian tourists, the route offers a new nonstop way to reach Tanzania, a country known for its beaches, national parks and safari tourism.
