A heartwarming supernatural comedy featuring an adorable ghost dog is heading to television. Shiba Inu Rooms, the manga created by Esu Omori, has officially been announced for a TV anime adaptation, with its premiere planned for Summer 2027.
The announcement also revealed the main voice cast, animation staff and a first teaser video. The story combines everyday apartment life, supernatural surprises and the amusing behaviour of a Shiba Inu.
A Haunted Apartment with an Unusual Roommate
The story follows Kori Momose, a high school student who moves into a new apartment called Maison Shiba. The rent is surprisingly low at just 4,800 yen per month, but there is an unusual reason behind the price.
Kori soon discovers that her room already has a resident: Mu, a Shiba Inu who exists as an earthbound spirit. Although Kori wants to enjoy living alone, Mu’s presence makes her plans difficult.
Their contrasting personalities lead to funny situations as Kori tries to find a way to live comfortably without a supernatural roommate.
Main Voice Cast Revealed
The anime has confirmed two leading voice actors:
- Niina Nakabayashi as Kori Momose
- Mutsumi Tamura as Mu
The production team includes Osamu Yamasaki as director, while Rio is responsible for character designs. Animation will be produced by TMS Entertainment.
Summer 2027 Broadcast Planned
The television series is scheduled to premiere in Summer 2027. An exact release date, broadcasting channels and streaming details have not yet been confirmed.
The announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual and promotional video introducing the characters and giving fans an early glimpse of the adaptation.
Manga Continues to Attract Readers
The original manga began as a one-shot before starting its regular serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform in June 2024. Its unusual combination of supernatural comedy and the charm of Shiba Inu dogs has helped it develop a dedicated readership.
With its playful premise and lovable central character, Shiba Inu Rooms is shaping up to be a light-hearted anime to watch in 2027.
