Anime fans in the United States and Canada will soon get a chance to experience Dive in Wonderland, a Japanese animated fantasy film inspired by Lewis Carroll’s famous classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The movie is scheduled for a special one-day theatrical screening on November 16, 2026, as part of the Crunchyroll Anime Nights programme.
The film offers a fresh interpretation of the familiar Wonderland setting, introducing a new central character who finds herself transported into a world filled with unusual creatures and unexpected adventures.
A New Journey into Wonderland
The story follows Rise Azumino, a university student who feels uncertain about her life. One day, she discovers an invitation left behind by her late grandmother. Following it leads her into Wonderland, where she meets a young girl named Alice.
The two begin travelling together and encounter several well-known characters, including the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat. Their journey brings a series of strange events and challenges as Rise begins to consider what direction she wants her future to take.
P.A. Works Handles Animation
The film is animated by P.A. Works, with Toshiya Shinohara directing and Yuko Kakihara responsible for the screenplay. The Japanese theatrical release originally took place on August 29, 2025.
The voice cast includes Nanoka Hara as Rise Azumino and Maika Pugh as Alice, alongside Mayu Matsuoka, Koji Yamamoto and several other performers.
Tickets Available for November Screening
The North American screening is planned for November 16 only, with tickets available through participating cinema listings. The film will be shown in both the United States and Canada.
The limited theatrical event gives international anime audiences an opportunity to watch the fantasy adventure on the big screen. No additional North American screening dates have been announced so far.
A Different Take on a Beloved Classic
Rather than simply retelling Alice’s original journey, Dive in Wonderland places Rise at the centre of the adventure. Her personal uncertainty and encounters with Wonderland’s unusual residents give the familiar fantasy setting a new perspective.
With colourful animation, recognisable characters and a new storyline, the film is an upcoming theatrical attraction for anime and fantasy fans.
