The supernatural anime Black Butler is preparing for a return to Netflix in the United States after being absent from the platform for more than three years. The first two seasons are scheduled to arrive on November 15, 2026, giving viewers another opportunity to revisit the dark fantasy series.
The announcement has renewed interest in the long-running franchise, which combines Victorian-era settings, mystery, supernatural elements and an unusual partnership between a young nobleman and his exceptionally skilled butler.
Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Return
Black Butler follows Ciel Phantomhive, a young aristocrat who works as the Queen’s Watchdog and investigates unusual cases across Victorian England.
He is accompanied by Sebastian Michaelis, his highly capable butler, who is secretly a demon bound to Ciel through a contract. Together, they become involved in dangerous mysteries while Ciel pursues the truth behind his family’s tragedy.
Two Seasons Included in the Netflix Return
Netflix’s US catalogue is scheduled to receive Seasons 1 and 2 on November 15. The first season originally premiered in 2008, followed by the second season in 2010.
At present, the streaming announcement covers these two seasons. No confirmation has been given about the addition of later story arcs.
A Franchise with a Long Manga History
The anime is based on the manga created by Yana Toboso, which began serialization in 2006 and remains ongoing. Its distinctive characters, gothic atmosphere and supernatural mystery have helped it maintain a dedicated international fanbase.
More Black Butler Viewing Ahead
The Netflix return will make the early episodes accessible again to US subscribers. Fans interested in the later parts of Ciel and Sebastian’s story should note that the announcement does not currently confirm those additional seasons.
