Taiwan is attracting growing attention from international tourists as major K-pop concerts encourage fans to plan overseas trips. According to new travel search data accommodation searches for Kaohsiung during BTS concert dates increased 3.6 times, while searches for Taipei during BIGBANG concert dates rose by 38% compared with the previous two weeks.
Kaohsiung Emerges as a Major Concert Destination
Kaohsiung is strengthening its position as an international entertainment destination. The city has increasingly hosted major music events, attracting visitors who combine concerts with sightseeing, shopping and local food experiences.
BTS is scheduled to perform at Kaohsiung National Stadium on November 19, 21 and 22, 2026. The upcoming shows are generating interest among overseas fans, particularly from Asian markets.
Japanese Travellers Show Strong Interest
Japanese travellers recorded particularly significant growth in accommodation searches. Searches for Taipei during BIGBANG’s concert dates were more than six times higher than in the preceding two weeks. For BTS concerts in Kaohsiung, searches from Japan increased more than 14 times.
Other markets also showed growing interest. Searches for Kaohsiung accommodation from Singapore increased 8.4 times, while those from the Philippines nearly tripled.
Concert Tourism Creates Wider Travel Opportunities
The growing interest suggests that international music events can encourage visitors to explore destinations beyond the concert venue. Travellers may extend their stays to discover local attractions, restaurants, shopping districts and cultural experiences.
Taiwan’s experience highlights how large entertainment events are becoming an important part of international tourism, creating opportunities for hotels, restaurants and local travel businesses.
