Indian travellers will soon have a new way to explore Maharashtra’s forests and wildlife destinations, with five organised safari tour packages scheduled to begin in November 2026. The initiative brings train journeys, accommodation, local transport and wildlife safari arrangements together in a single travel plan.
Five Wildlife Tour Options to Choose From
The packages are being introduced under the name Vandarshan – Explore Nature, Discover Wildlife, through a collaboration between the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the Maharashtra Forest Department.
The five itineraries cover popular wildlife destinations, including Tadoba, Bor, Navegaon-Nagzira, Pench, Umred-Paoni-Karhandla and Tipeshwar. Each package combines different parks and sanctuaries, giving travellers several options for discovering the region’s forest landscapes.
Tours to Begin on November 19
The first departures are scheduled for November 19, 2026. Each itinerary is planned as a four-night, five-day trip, with train travel arranged through the Vidarbha Express. The tours will depart from Mumbai, while return journeys will be organised from Gondia, depending on the selected package.
By combining major travel arrangements, the packages are designed to make wildlife holidays easier to plan for visitors who would prefer an organised trip.
Train Tickets and Safari Arrangements Included
The tour packages include train tickets, accommodation, local transportation and wildlife safari arrangements. Confirmed safari permits are also included under the respective package plans.
Availability is limited, with each departure offering six berths in AC 3-tier and six berths in AC 2-tier coaches. Travellers interested in joining these tours should check the latest itinerary, package prices, departure details and availability before making their plans.
A New Option for Nature Lovers
The initiative offers a convenient option for families, photographers and wildlife enthusiasts looking to explore Maharashtra’s tiger reserves and sanctuaries during the winter holiday season. With rail travel and safari arrangements combined, the tours aim to make forest destinations more accessible while showcasing the region’s natural diversity.
