International hotel group Marriott International has made its debut in Laos with the opening of La Résidence Phou Vao, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, in the historic town of Luang Prabang. The opening also marks Marriott’s 800th property in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding China.
The resort is located on Phou Vao hill, surrounded by tropical gardens and overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage town.
A 36-Suite Resort with Mountain Views
The property features 36 suites, with accommodation options including Garden Heritage, Mountain View and Phou Si Temple categories. Its design combines local Lao craftsmanship, handwoven textiles and rosewood details with modern facilities.
The resort has retained its original architecture, gardens and hilltop swimming pool while refreshing its interiors and guest experiences.
Dining Inspired by French and Lao Traditions
La Brasserie de la Résidence offers contemporary French dishes prepared with seasonal and regional ingredients. Guests can also explore Lao cuisine through a dedicated tasting menu and locally inspired dining experiences.
Spa, River Cruises and Cultural Experiences
The resort includes the Mekong Spa, a 13-metre infinity pool and a fitness centre. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions through sunset cruises on the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, boat trips to the Pak Ou Caves and visits to the Kuang Si Waterfalls.
Located around two kilometres from the old town, the property gives travellers access to cultural landmarks such as the Royal Palace Museum and Wat Xieng Thong.
The opening adds another luxury accommodation option to Luang Prabang, a destination known for its temples, traditional architecture and river landscapes.
