Uttarakhand is set to host a major adventure tourism convention aimed at positioning India as a destination for outdoor experiences throughout the year. The four-day event will bring together tourism professionals, policymakers, adventure operators and industry experts to discuss ways to expand travel beyond traditional peak seasons.
Jim Corbett to Host the Four-Day Event
The Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), working with the Ministry of Tourism and the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, will organise its 18th Annual Adventure Convention at Jim Corbett National Park from December 13 to 16, 2026.
The event will follow the theme “India 365: Boundless Adventures”, highlighting opportunities to promote travel across different seasons and regions.
Focus on All-Season Adventure Destinations
Discussions will explore how India can develop adventure tourism across its mountains, rivers, forests, deserts and coastlines. Organisers aim to reduce dependence on seasonal visitor peaks and create more consistent opportunities for local tourism businesses.
The programme is expected to include panel discussions, workshops, business networking sessions and an exhibition featuring adventure tourism products and experiences from across the country.
Safety and Sustainable Tourism in Focus
Adventure safety, risk management and environmentally responsible operations will be important parts of the convention. Sessions will examine ways to strengthen operating standards while protecting natural landscapes and supporting local communities.
Organisers also plan to promote responsible practices such as reducing event waste and following “Leave No Trace” principles.
What It Means for Indian Travellers
The initiative could help more destinations develop organised adventure experiences outside their busiest travel periods. If successful, this approach may create new opportunities for travellers to explore lesser-known regions while supporting local guides, operators and communities.
The convention also reflects a broader effort to make India more competitive in the international adventure tourism market.
