The upcoming anime film Witch on the Holy Night has received a new English-language trailer, giving viewers another preview of its magical world and featuring the theme song “Yoru to Ao” by supercell. The film adapts the visual novel created by TYPE-MOON and is animated by ufotable.
The latest trailer offers glimpses of the film’s characters and supernatural atmosphere as anticipation builds for its theatrical release.
A Story About Magic and Unexpected Connections
Set in Japan in the late 1980s, the story follows Aoko Aozaki, a young woman who begins learning magic under the guidance of Alice Kuonji, a mysterious witch living in an old mansion. Their lives change further when Sōjūrō Shizuki, a young man from the countryside, enters their world.
The story combines magical training, unusual relationships and mysteries surrounding the characters’ lives.
Supercell Provides the Theme Song
The film features “Yoru to Ao,” performed by Nagi Yanagi, with ryo of supercell credited for the song’s lyrics, composition and arrangement. The track adds a musical element to the new trailer and connects the adaptation with the creative history of the original visual novel.
Japanese and International Release Plans
The film is scheduled to open in Japanese cinemas on November 20, 2026. In the United States and Canada, theatrical screenings are planned for January 29, 2027, with Japanese audio and English subtitles as well as an English-dubbed version.
With ufotable handling the animation and the original story’s established fanbase, the film is one of the upcoming fantasy anime adaptations to watch.
