The latest episode of Daemons of the Shadow Realm, titled “Sword and Bow,” pushes Yuru and his allies into another dangerous confrontation while revealing a shocking truth about the disappearance of Yuru’s parents.
After the events of Episode 18, Shingo had unleashed his Daemons, Fujin and Raijin, while keeping Yuru captive until Dera arrived. At the same time, one of Asuma’s Daemons revealed that Asuma was not responsible for the incident and that everything was connected to a plan to bring Shingo down. Elsewhere, Danji attempted to contact Yuru using smoke signals, while Asa discovered Shingo’s hidden hostages—including the woman impersonating her.
Asa Rescues the Hostages
The episode begins with a quick recap of the recent events before returning to Fake Asa and Azami, who are terrified after Asa and Fuyuki break into the building.
Asa immediately takes control of the situation. Using her Break ability, she disables several Daemons belonging to Shingo’s men. She then uses Yin-Yang to place Fake Asa and Azami inside a strange, glowing space.
Inside this pale realm, Asa confronts Fake Asa and questions her about the other captives. She makes it clear that she has plenty to discuss with her and orders Fake Asa to eventually tell Yuru the entire truth.
For the moment, however, Asa leaves the two behind and returns to the rescue operation. Working alongside Gonzo, she quickly eliminates the remaining members of Shingo’s group.
Yuru Reunites With Danji and Asa
Outside the building, Yuru finally meets up with Danji. Danji is overwhelmed with relief and hugs Yuru, crying because he is simply happy that his friend arrived.
Dera watches as Yuru struggles to explain everything that has happened, including the situation involving Right and Left. Danji also learns about what Yuru has been dealing with.
Inside the building, Asa explains to Fuyuki that her intense brother obsession was partly an act. She had deliberately behaved that way so she could leave the mansion without attracting suspicion.
Fuyuki remains skeptical because Asa is genuinely passionate about her brother most of the time.
Soon afterward, Asa hears Yuru’s voice and breaks through a window to greet him. The two exchange information about everything that has happened. Asa even asks Yuru for a hug, but he jokingly tells her to hug Right instead.
With the hostages safe and Danji’s other Daemon half unharmed, the situation finally begins to calm down. Danji sincerely thanks Yuru for coming to help and promises that he will no longer lie to him.
Asa also receives Danji’s gratitude, although she immediately insists that she did not rescue him for his sake. Her passionate reaction makes Danji realize that he and Asa are surprisingly similar.
Yuru Learns About His Parents
Dera gives Gonzo information about Shingo’s location and asks him to deal with Shingo.
Yuru then says goodbye to Asa, promising that he will see her later. Asa becomes extremely happy about this, forcing Fuyuki to pull her away as they head off with Gonzo.
Yuru then tells Danji about Right and Left. The two are currently battling a dangerous fighter named Ivan, who may possess information about Yuru’s missing parents.
Danji immediately criticizes Yuru for not dealing with Ivan first. Their argument quickly turns into the kind of familiar bickering they used to have.
Rather than being concerned, Dera and the strange Daemons see the argument as a positive sign. To them, it means Yuru and Danji’s friendship has finally returned to normal.
Meanwhile, a warehouse night watchman discovers a horrifying scene: the bodies of several dead Higashi agents. Shocked by what he sees, he immediately contacts headquarters.
Ivan Reveals the Truth
Yuru, Danji, and Dera eventually head toward Right and Left’s location.
During the journey, Dera explains how dangerous his rifle is. A single shot can kill someone, making it difficult to capture Ivan alive. Dera warns Yuru that, despite his intentions, he may accidentally end up killing him.
The group soon hears the sounds of the battle and rushes toward the scene.
Right attacks Ivan by throwing a skid steer at him, while Left attempts to strike him with an iron beam. Ivan effortlessly cuts through the beam and wounds Left’s arm.
He even manages to deflect one of the incoming arrows.
Yuru has now entered the fight.
Ivan attempts to avoid Yuru’s arrows while simultaneously defending himself against Right and Left’s relentless attacks. Yuru demands information about his parents.
Ivan claims that he knows something about their disappearance, but says Yuru must come down from his position if he wants answers. Yuru refuses.
When Yuru informs Ivan that Shingo’s forces are being overwhelmed by the Kagemoris, Ivan finally agrees to talk.
What he reveals is devastating.
Ivan says that Shingo was not responsible for Yuru’s parents disappearing. Instead, Ivan himself claims responsibility for killing Mine and Nagisa.
He tells Yuru that he personally cut off their heads.
Ivan Turns the Battle Around
The revelation sends Yuru into an emotional struggle, but Ivan wastes no time exploiting the situation.
He throws a sword directly at Left, impaling her. Ivan then moves in to finish her, claiming that nothing should stand between Yuru and his ability to obtain the power of Seal.
Just as Ivan prepares to kill Left, Danji intervenes. A blood-like tendril wraps around Ivan’s leg and pulls him away.
Ivan cuts through the tendril and drops to the ground, but Yuru immediately fires an arrow into his thigh.
Yuru then demands to know which arm Ivan used to kill his father and mother, warning him that he will target that arm next.
Elsewhere, Gonzo informs Asa and Fuyuki that they have discovered the identity of the mole: Akio. With that information uncovered, Gonzo says their mission is nearly complete and they can soon return home.
Yuru Struggles to Stay Calm
Dera begins questioning why Ivan would kill Yuru’s parents in the first place. He eventually realizes that the murders may have been part of a psychological strategy designed to destabilize Yuru and make him easier to manipulate.
Ivan continues provoking Yuru, who begins losing control of his emotions.
Yuru remembers his father’s teachings about the importance of remaining calm when fighting for survival. However, the pain and anger make it difficult for him to follow that advice.
Then he remembers Asa’s reassuring words.
That memory helps Yuru regain control. He takes a deep breath, steadies himself, and tells Ivan that he does not believe his story.
At the same time, Left wonders whether she can survive with the sword still lodged inside her body.
Ivan realizes that Dera’s rifle has created another problem. With Dera covering the area, escaping will be extremely difficult.
Instead of retreating, Ivan makes a terrifying decision.
He cuts into his own neck, causing his veins to bulge as a strange purple color spreads across his body. Left undergoes a similar transformation and manages to knock the sword out of her torso.
However, Ivan’s newly enhanced speed and strength make him even more dangerous.
Even Right appears unable to react quickly enough as Ivan launches himself toward Left with a deadly final attack.
The episode ends on a tense cliffhanger, leaving Yuru, Right, and Left facing one of their most dangerous moments yet.
