Kyoto Animation Film Earns Audience Recognition
Produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Taichi Ogawa, the film follows students from Kitauji High School’s concert band as they work towards qualifying for the national competition.
Winning the Audience Prize highlights the film’s reception among festival viewers, while its music-related award recognises the importance of sound and performance in a story centred on a school concert band.
A Two-Part Cinematic Finale
The final film was released in two parts in Japan. Part One opened in April 2026, while Part Two arrived in September, bringing the anime’s long-running story closer to its conclusion.
The franchise is based on novels by Ayano Takeda. Its television adaptation began in 2015 and has followed student Kumiko Oumae and her fellow musicians through rehearsals, competitions and personal challenges.
A Milestone for the Music Anime
The three awards add to the film’s recognition as the franchise reaches its cinematic finale. By combining detailed animation, orchestral performances and a coming-of-age story, Sound! Euphonium continues to stand out among anime centred on music and school life.
