The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new WhatsApp-based service to make provident fund-related information more accessible to subscribers. Employees can now check their PF balance, view recent transactions and access passbook details through the organisation’s verified WhatsApp service.
The initiative is aimed at reducing the need for office visits and making routine PF services easier for millions of employees.
Check PF Balance and Transactions Through WhatsApp
Under the new facility, EPF members will be able to access several account-related services, including:
- Check their latest PF balance.
- View their last five transactions.
- Access passbook information.
- Receive personalised guidance for PMVBRY-related requirements.
The service is expected to make it easier for employees to keep track of their retirement savings.
Automatic Settlement for Inactive PF Accounts
EPFO has also introduced automatic settlement for eligible inoperative PF accounts having balances of up to ₹1,000.
Members with Aadhaar-verified accounts will not need to submit individual claims. After the required identity and bank account verification, eligible amounts will be transferred directly to the rightful beneficiaries.
Around One Lakh Accounts Expected to Benefit
According to the announcement, approximately one lakh inoperative accounts involving nearly ₹5 crore are expected to benefit from the automatic settlement facility.
This move is intended to help members and beneficiaries receive small, unclaimed PF balances without going through a lengthy claim process.
What Employees Should Know
The new WhatsApp facility and automatic settlement initiative are part of EPFO’s efforts to improve digital services and simplify access to provident fund savings.
Employees should use only EPFO’s verified service channels and ensure their Aadhaar and bank details are correctly linked to their PF accounts.
