Government Increases Dearness Relief to 63%
Central government pensioners and family pensioners have received an important financial update. The government has approved an increase in Dearness Relief (DR) from 60% to 63% of basic pension, effective from July 1, 2026.The revised rate was communicated through an official government order .
Who Will Benefit From the Revised DR?
The increase will benefit central government pensioners and family pensioners, including:
- Civilian central government pensioners.
- Defence pensioners and family pensioners.
- Railway pensioners.
- All India Services pensioners.
- Eligible provisional pension recipients.
The additional 3% relief will increase the monthly pension amount, depending on the individual’s basic pension.
November Digital Life Certificate Campaign
Another important pension-related development is the nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign running from November 1 to November 30, 2026.
Pensioners can use face authentication technology through the Jeevan Pramaan facility to submit their life certificates. Special assistance and doorstep services are also being arranged for elderly pensioners who cannot visit centres.
What Pensioners Should Check
Pensioners should check their revised DR entitlement with their pension-disbursing bank and ensure that their annual life certificate is submitted within the required period to avoid interruption in pension payments.
