The Indian stock market continued its upward momentum on Wednesday, with benchmark indices recording gains for the fifth consecutive trading session. The BSE Sensex climbed nearly 384 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 crossed the 23,950 mark, supported by foreign investor buying, easing crude oil prices and strength in several major sectors.
The positive movement brought renewed optimism among investors after several sessions of strong recovery in domestic equities.
Sensex and Nifty End Wednesday in Green
The BSE Sensex closed at 77,301.40, gaining 383.55 points or 0.50%. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty 50 advanced 149.75 points or 0.63% to settle at 23,960.60.
Both indices extended their winning streak to five consecutive sessions, reflecting improving investor sentiment.
The broader market performed even better, with the Nifty Midcap 100 rising 1.55% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 gaining 2%.
Bharat Electronics and Titan Lead Market Gainers
Several major companies recorded strong gains during Wednesday’s trading session.
Bharat Electronics, Adani Enterprises, Titan Company, Jio Financial Services and Max Healthcare were among the leading Nifty 50 gainers.
However, technology stocks faced selling pressure. Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies and Infosys were among the notable losers.
The Nifty IT index declined approximately 1.5%, while realty, metals and media stocks recorded stronger performances.
Foreign Investor Buying Supports Market Recovery
Foreign institutional investors continued to attract attention after purchasing Indian equities worth approximately ₹6,837 crore on Tuesday.
The renewed buying interest has supported the recent market recovery and helped improve overall trading sentiment.
Lower crude oil prices have also provided relief to investors because India depends heavily on imported crude, making oil prices an important factor for inflation and corporate costs.
US Midterm Elections Keep Investors Alert
Investors are also monitoring developments surrounding the US midterm elections and their possible impact on global financial markets.
Changes in international trade policies, geopolitical developments and global economic conditions could influence foreign investment flows into Indian equities.
Despite the positive closing, market participants remain cautious about global uncertainty and upcoming corporate earnings.
The five-session rally has strengthened domestic market sentiment, although investors will continue watching foreign fund activity, crude oil prices and international developments for further direction.
