Navi Mumbai is hosting Aadi Mahotsav 2026, an eight-day festival celebrating India’s tribal heritage, traditional craftsmanship and indigenous products. The event is being held at CIDCO Urban Haat in CBD Belapur giving visitors an opportunity to explore the cultural traditions of tribal communities from different parts of the country.
The festival brings together artisans, producer groups and women-led self-help groups, creating a platform for them to showcase their work and connect directly with customers.
Traditional Handicrafts, Textiles and Jewellery
Visitors can explore a variety of tribal products, including handloom textiles, traditional jewellery, paintings, bamboo and cane crafts, metalwork, forest-based products and locally made food items.
The exhibition highlights the skills and artistic traditions passed down through communities, while helping artisans reach a wider market for their products.
Folk Performances Add to the Experience
The festival’s opening programme featured a traditional Tarpa dance performance by artists from Maharashtra’s Palghar region. Folk performances add a cultural element to the event, allowing visitors to experience tribal traditions alongside the craft exhibition.
The festival also offers an opportunity to learn about the communities behind the products and the cultural significance of their art forms.
