Healthcare centres across Delhi are preparing to introduce weekly yoga and wellness sessions as part of efforts to encourage healthier lifestyles and strengthen preventive healthcare services.
Weekly Yoga Sessions at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs
All Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Delhi have been directed to organise yoga and wellness activities on a fixed day every week.
The sessions will focus on encouraging physical activity, mental well-being, balanced nutrition and healthier daily habits. The initiative is also expected to increase community participation in preventive healthcare.
Greater Focus on Diabetes and Blood Pressure Screening
During her visit to healthcare facilities, the Health Secretary reviewed services related to non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes and hypertension.
She emphasised the importance of regular screening, early diagnosis, timely treatment and continuous follow-up to reduce the risk of complications.
Children’s Digital Health Records Also in Focus
Officials have also been directed to integrate Baal Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID generation into routine healthcare services.
The initiative aims to help maintain digital health records for children and improve continuity of healthcare services.
Improving Primary Healthcare Services
The government is also focusing on quality certification for urban health centres under National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS).
The broader objective is to make primary healthcare more accessible, improve service quality and encourage people to focus on disease prevention rather than waiting until health problems become serious.
