Research to Examine Health and Happiness Among Indian Adults
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has partnered with Herbalife India for a multi-city research initiative called the Health & Happiness Study. The project aims to understand how nutrition, everyday lifestyle habits, social connections and community support may influence healthy ageing.
The study is planned across Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hyderabad and Chennai, with more than 1,000 participants expected to take part.
What Researchers Will Examine
Each participant will be followed for approximately six months. Researchers plan to assess several aspects of wellbeing, including:
- Metabolic health and biological markers
- Gut microbiome composition
- Nutrition and lifestyle practices
- Social participation and community connections
- Overall wellbeing and healthy-ageing indicators
Why the Study Matters
Healthy ageing involves more than simply living longer. Researchers want to understand how physical health, social relationships and daily habits interact as people grow older.
The project is intended to generate evidence based on Indian participants. Since the research has only been launched, it has not yet produced results showing which factors have the strongest effects.
