Domestic LPG, CNG and PNG prices remained unchanged in several major Indian cities on October 9, providing some relief to households and vehicle owners amid elevated energy costs. While domestic LPG cylinder prices remained stable, commercial LPG rates reflected the increase announced at the beginning of October.
CNG and piped natural gas (PNG) rates differ across cities because of variations in local taxes, distribution expenses and pricing decisions by city gas distributors. Meanwhile, higher international energy costs and fluctuations in global gas markets continue to influence the fuel sector.
In some parts of Uttar Pradesh, CNG prices were recently increased by up to ₹3.25 per kg. The rise was attributed to higher input gas costs, increasing spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices and currency fluctuations.
LPG is a major expense for households, while CNG and PNG prices directly affect transportation and cooking costs. On October 9, a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder cost ₹942 in Delhi. CNG was priced at ₹86.98 per kg, while PNG cost ₹49.59 per standard cubic metre (SCM).

Despite an increase in attacks on ships around the Strait of Hormuz, maritime experts and tracking services reported that oil exports from the Gulf had resumed significantly in recent days.
The Iran-backed Houthis said on Saturday that more than 100 military targets had been destroyed in a large-scale operation against them. Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi coalition, said on X that the coalition was targeting the personnel and capabilities of the Houthi militia. In a separate post, he claimed that 136 military targets in areas under Houthi control had been destroyed.
Meanwhile, Houthi-run Almasirah TV reported that Saudi missiles had struck locations in Yemen’s northwestern Saada governorate.
Trump Claims Russia Will Supply Diesel to Ease Fuel Costs
US President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that Russia would immediately supply more than 300,000 metric tonnes of diesel for the United States and international markets as his administration seeks to control rising fuel prices ahead of the November midterm elections.
Trump said he had spoken by telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who had agreed to release 300,000 tonnes of diesel immediately, followed by another 500,000 tonnes in November and one million tonnes in December. He expressed confidence that diesel prices would fall soon in the United States and elsewhere. According to AAA Fuel Prices, the average retail price of diesel in the US stood at $6.28 per gallon.
