Indian Railways has introduced a new overnight travel option between Bengaluru and Mumbai. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express on November 1, strengthening rail connectivity between Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The new service is expected to cover the journey in approximately 16 hours, compared with around 22 hours or more on some existing trains.
Route and Major Stoppages
The train will connect Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. It will stop at eight stations:
- Anantapur
- Guntakal
- Raichur
- Yadgir
- Kalaburagi
- Solapur
- Pune
- Kalyan
Regular Services Begin in November
The Bengaluru-to-Mumbai service, numbered 27652, is scheduled to begin regular operations on November 3. It will depart Bengaluru at 7:45 PM and arrive in Mumbai at 11:55 AM the following day.
The return service, numbered 27651, will begin on November 2. It will leave Mumbai at 8:10 PM and reach Bengaluru at noon the next day.
The trains will operate six days a week, with no Bengaluru departure on Mondays and no Mumbai departure on Tuesdays.
Modern Sleeper Facilities
The 16-coach train offers three accommodation categories: AC First Class, AC Two-Tier and AC Three-Tier. Features include cushioned berths, automatic doors, improved suspension, noise reduction and the Kavach train protection system.
A New Option for Overnight Travellers
The service is expected to benefit passengers travelling between two of India’s major business centres. With its overnight schedule and reduced journey time, it adds another option for people planning trips between Bengaluru and Mumbai.
