Amitabh Bachchan has shared a light-hearted memory about his wife, Jaya Bachchan, and the unusual way she addressed him during their early years together. The veteran actor recalled that Jaya used to call him “Lambu Ji”, a nickname connected to his tall stature.
Harivansh Rai Bachchan Asked Jaya to Stop
During an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, Amitabh explained that his late father, poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was not comfortable with the nickname. He suggested that Jaya either address her husband by his name or choose another way of calling him. Jaya eventually began using Amitabh’s name instead.
Ranbir Kapoor Started the Conversation
The story came up while Amitabh was speaking with Ramayana actors Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey on the show. Ranbir discussed how he imagined the height difference between himself and Alia Bhatt in comparison with Amitabh and Jaya.
Amitabh also revealed that he is around 6 feet 2 inches tall, while Jaya is approximately 5 feet 3 or 4 inches.
The amusing memory offered viewers a glimpse into the couple’s early married life and added a personal moment to the special episode.
