Death Stranding Isolations, the upcoming anime set in the world of the popular Death Stranding video game, has released its first teaser trailer and revealed additional production details. The announcement was made on October 30 during the 10th-anniversary event of Kojima Productions in Tokyo.
A New Story Set in the Death Stranding Universe
Unlike a direct retelling of the games, the anime will introduce an entirely new story with different characters. It takes place in North America after Sam Bridges reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network.
The story follows a young girl who has grown accustomed to living in isolation after a devastating event. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when new encounters draw her into a world she has tried to avoid. Other characters include an elderly man seeking a different way to connect people, a female soldier caught in conflict and a boy struggling with anger.
Hand-Drawn 2D Animation Confirmed
The series is being created using traditional hand-drawn 2D animation. E&H production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui and Bullet/Bullet, is handling the animation.
Director Takayuki Sano is leading the project, while author Tow Ubukata has joined as series composition and screenplay writer. The original character designs are by Ilya Kuvshinov.
Disney+ Release Planned for 2027
Hideo Kojima is serving as executive producer. The anime is scheduled to stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2027, although an exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
The newly released teaser offers the first look at the series’ visual direction and introduces a fresh chapter in the Death Stranding universe.
