The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is approaching an important deadline under its Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026. Employers have until October 31 to register eligible employees who were previously left outside the provident fund system despite being covered under applicable rules.
The initiative aims to expand social security protection and bring more workers under the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) and Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI).
Who Can Benefit from the Campaign?
The campaign provides a one-time opportunity to establishments to enrol eligible employees who remained outside EPF coverage between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2026.
However, the employee must be alive and continuing in employment with the establishment on the date of declaration.
Special Relief for Employers
EPFO has introduced certain relaxations to encourage employers to correct earlier compliance gaps.
One important provision allows the employee’s share of PF contributions to be waived where it was not deducted from the employee’s salary earlier, subject to the campaign’s prescribed conditions.
This provision is intended to make retrospective registration easier for eligible establishments.
EPF, Pension and Insurance Benefits for Workers
Registration under the campaign can help eligible employees access three important social security benefits:
- EPF: Retirement savings through provident fund contributions.
- EPS: Pension benefits subject to eligibility conditions.
- EDLI: Insurance protection for eligible members in case of death while in service.
Deadline for Registration
The Employees’ Enrolment Campaign was launched with effect from June 29, 2026, and its registration window closes on October 31, 2026.
Employers with eligible workers should complete the required declaration within the prescribed period. The initiative is expected to improve formal employment coverage and strengthen access to social security benefits.
