Pensioners covered under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) can now submit their annual Life Certificate through a new mobile-based facility called UPS Jeevan Setu. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has operationalised the digital facility to make the verification process easier and reduce the need for pensioners to visit government offices.
The facility uses Aadhaar-based authentication and is designed to help eligible pensioners complete their annual verification conveniently.
What Is UPS Jeevan Setu?
UPS Jeevan Setu is a digital Life Certificate facility introduced specifically for pensioners covered under the Unified Pension Scheme.
Through this service, pensioners can generate and submit their Digital Life Certificate using the NPS by Protean eGov mobile application. The initiative aims to simplify the annual verification process and improve accessibility for retired government employees.
How Can Pensioners Submit Their Life Certificate?
The facility allows pensioners to complete verification through their mobile phones using Aadhaar-based authentication.
The process involves entering the Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN), date of birth and registered mobile number for OTP verification. Pensioners can then complete Aadhaar and face authentication to generate their Digital Life Certificate.
After successful authentication, the certificate is generated digitally and validated through the Aadhaar-based process.
November 30 Is the Important Deadline
All eligible UPS pensioners must submit their Digital Life Certificate annually by November 30.
Timely submission is important because failure to complete the required verification may affect the continuation of monthly assured pension payouts.
What Does This Mean for UPS Pensioners?
The new facility is expected to make annual pension verification more convenient, particularly for senior citizens who may find physical visits to government offices difficult.
By introducing mobile-based verification, the pension regulator is taking another step towards digitising pension-related services and improving access for retired employees.
The initiative gives UPS pensioners a simpler way to complete an important annual requirement while helping ensure the uninterrupted processing of their pension benefits.
