LPG, CNG and PNG prices across major Indian cities are drawing attention as global energy markets continue to experience volatility amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Domestic LPG cylinder prices remained unchanged as of October 13, while commercial LPG rates were increased on October 1, raising operating costs for restaurants, hotels and other businesses.
A 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder costs ₹942 in Delhi. Meanwhile, CNG and PNG prices differ from one city to another because of variations in taxes, gas procurement costs and distribution expenses. Global Crude Oil Prices and Their Impact on India
International oil markets remained under pressure on October 13 amid concerns about possible supply disruptions following reported attacks on Saudi Arabian targets and commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude futures were trading at around $105.20 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude stood at approximately $92.35 per barrel.
Markets were also assessing the possibility of additional Russian diesel supplies. However, continuing tensions in the Middle East and risks to major shipping routes have kept concerns about global energy supplies in focus. According to Reuters, the prospect of increased Russian diesel exports could provide some relief, although supply constraints may limit the immediate impact.
India imports around 90% of its crude oil requirements. A prolonged rise in international oil prices could therefore increase the country’s import expenditure and put additional pressure on the domestic energy market.
However, fluctuations in global crude oil prices do not automatically result in immediate changes to LPG, CNG or PNG rates. Domestic prices also depend on procurement costs, pricing decisions, taxes and local distribution expenses. Consumers should check the latest city-wise rates before purchasing gas or refuelling their vehicles.
