The Central Government has approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme for another five years, providing long-term financial support to eligible farmer families across India. The Union Cabinet has approved a total financial allocation of ₹3.15 lakh crore for the scheme covering the period from 2026–27 to 2030–31.
The decision ensures that the income-support programme will continue to provide direct financial assistance to farmers through their bank accounts.
PM Kisan Scheme to Continue for Five More Years
The Cabinet approval confirms that PM-KISAN will remain operational until the financial year 2030–31.
Under the existing structure, eligible landholding farmer families receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. The amount is transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
₹3.15 Lakh Crore Financial Allocation Approved
The approved financial allocation will support the continuation of the programme over the next five years.
The government aims to ensure that eligible farming families continue receiving predictable financial assistance to support agricultural investments and other farming-related requirements.
Digital Verification Remains Important
Farmers must continue meeting the scheme’s eligibility and verification requirements to receive benefits.
Important requirements include:
- Completing mandatory Aadhaar-based e-KYC.
- Maintaining accurate bank account details.
- Ensuring land ownership records are correctly verified.
- Checking beneficiary status through the official PM-KISAN portal.
How Farmers Can Check Their Beneficiary Status
Farmers can visit the official PM-KISAN website and select the Know Your Status option to check registration and payment details.
The portal also provides information about beneficiary records and instalment payments.
What the Extension Means for Farmers
The five-year extension provides continuity to one of India’s major farmer income-support programmes. With a substantial financial allocation approved through 2030–31, eligible farmers can continue to receive assistance under the existing scheme structure.
The approval does not announce an increase in the annual ₹6,000 benefit; the existing payment structure remains unchanged.
